|

Urban Sustainability and Equity Center (USEC) invites members of the Richmond community to participate in this roundtable event and learn about our recent research findings related to local heat island patterns in the City of Richmond.

Over the past several months, our organization has developed a working spatial analysis of socioeconomic vulnerabilities to climate change in Richmond. At this event, we will be sharing our preliminary research, as well as our recommendations for local mitigation strategies. USEC hopes to use this event as an opportunity to gather feedback and contributions from the greater Richmond community as we move forward with this important work.

Research presentation will be followed by a panel on environmental equity among leaders in the sustainability field.

Panel speakers include:
Duron Chavis, Community Engagement Coordinator at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

Dr. Hans-Peter Plag, Director, Mitigation and Adaptation Research Institute (MARI) and Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Physics and Chemistry of the Earth

Arthur Burton, founder of Kinfolks Community

Additional speakers TBA
