Science After Dark: The Final Fur
March is known for college basketball and the Science Museum of Virginia is getting in on the game! Grab your pom poms and root for your favorite players in the “Rat Basketball Association.” Watch and learn about the techniques used to train these furry veteran and rookie contenders as they go head to head in the rat basketball tournament. In addition, visitors will enjoy making your own basketball net, building a newspaper basketball tower and making a catapult to sling a ball through a hoop. You can even compete in a basketball shooting showdown! Then, plan to stick around for a showing of Space Jam in the Dome. Join in on the fun on Friday, April 5 from 5 to 9 pm at the Science Museum of Virginia.
The Rat Basketball Association is preparing for the annual March Ratness tip off! And if basketball-playing rats is not enough, explore three floors of exhibits and get hands-on as you make your own basketball net, build a newspaper basketball tower and build a catapult to sling a ball through a hoop. You can even compete in a basketball shooting showdown!
Then head to The Dome for special all-live Cosmic Expeditions at 6:30 and 7:15 pm; space is limited to the first 250 guests at each show, no ticket required. Stick around for a showing of Space Jam (rated PG) at 8 pm. After the shows, step outside to stargaze through telescopes with the Richmond Astronomical Society, weather permitting.
