Blaine Bettinger, J.D., Ph.D., is well-known in the genealogical community for his expertise at the intersection of traditional genealogical techniques and DNA testing. He is the co-author of Genetic Genealogy in Practice with Debbie Parker Wayne. He is the author of The Family Tree Guide to DNA Testing and Genetic Genealogy. His blog is and his Facebook group, Genetic Genealogy Tips & Techniques boasts over 47,000 members. Blaine speaks at local, state and national conferences including SLIG, GRIP, IGHR and NGS. He is a trustee for the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and a board member for the Association of Professional Genealogists. Blaine is a patent, copyright and trademark attorney with his J.D. from Syracuse University. His Ph.D. in Biochemistry (concentration in genetics) is from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University.
